Differences between British culture and Chinese cultrue

Every country has its own culture. As a country that has a centuries-old history, China’s culture is unique. By this period of time after I arrived, I realize that the British culture is almost different from Chinese culture, though there are some similar points.
Firstly, the teaching mode of British university is totally different from the one in China. When we have a lecture in Chinese schools or universities, we don’t have to give feedback to the speaker, the only thing we should is to write hard and copy the information the speaker shows on slides or blackboard. It’s hard for us to enjoy the lecture and participate the discussion. Oppositely, when having a lecture in British lecture, we must recognize the importance that the speaker gives, take notes, or even ask questions. However, that’s not enough. We also need more reading after lecture, and collect extra useful information independently if we wish to pass the exam. In a word, the difference between Chinese education and British education is surprising.
Not only in the education aspect. There also a lot of differences between two countries in the daily life aspect, As we know, it doesn’t mean you do not want something if you wave your head, but in UK, it means you definitely refuse .Diet customs have only a few similarities .British food is more simple than Chinese, besides the staple food in British is potato while the one in China is rice.
All in all, cultures in these two countries are different, but a few similarities still can be realized with my limited experience, like the moral judgement.

  2. To compare with British culture and Chinese culture we can realize that there are many difference between these two Countries.China is an ancient and developing country and she has 5000 years cultural history in the world.uk is a newly industrialized and developed country.

Two countries have different culture in manyaspect.Firstly,I think the food is diffence in china people like more greasy food when people is cooking they favor to fry and Chinese food is more various than UK food. However in the UK people enjoy the food which is more convenient take Hamburger for example there are some meat in the middle of two piece of breads I think people just spend 5min can make it.Secondly,in the campus between two country there are also some different.in the Chinese classes there almost no discussion atmosphere and in uk students in classes there are many discussion.Lastly,British people's life is very fast and Chinese people have a peace life.

Nevertheless, two countries be same in some area.First and foremost, students in uk and china also have much party. And they are study hard in universities ,almost everyone have designed there life.In Addition, today we have embarked upon the information era. With the development of economic and technology Chain in some area will catch-up the developed countrise.

In the final analysis, I concede that UK and china in some culture is different. However there are many sameness culture of the teenagers .On balance with progress of the society some culture will be contrasted assimilation.

  3. Jin,

This is a very well written and thoughtful essay. You show a very good level of vocabulary and writing (including sentence structure). Your introduction is strong and your first body paragraph is very well done. The second paragraph is slightly less developed and slightly less clear on certain points- ex: wave your head? You could include more examples if you begin the paragraph by saying there are many differences...

Also, be sure to make the conclusion a separate paragraph from the others, and do not introduce any new points or information in it. For example, you mention moral judgments in the conclusion, but never mentioned it in the essay. The conclusion is for a summary, and not new ideas.

Overall, this is a well written and well structured essay. Good job!

  4. Peng,

Thank you for sharing your ideas here! This is a good essay, but there are some points I must mention.

First, be VERY careful about punctuation! Many sentences don't have full stops at the end, or commas, or capital letters. Distinguishing between sentences is an important part of (academic) writing to make your points clear. Also, be careful when creating paragraphs to include similar ideas together. In the first body paragraph, the supporting ideas on food and education are not linked together strongly.

Be careful of misuse of vocabulary! The noun for similar is 'similarity', not sameness. 'Assimilation' at the end of the conclusion is unclear and incorrectly used.

Overall though, there is a clear structure and organization to your ideas! Good job!
