Weekly Writing 3 ---by Sue

Nowadays, tourism is more and more popular in our lives. Tourism is now the world's largest industry. But in the meantime , tourism sparked much debate. Some peoople assert that tourism is bad for the environment, we should control ,while others argue that is good for the developing of the economic , we should promote tourism. Personally, i am in favor of the former view.

Tourism is a labour intensive industry and creates many job opportunities, especially for young people and part-time and full-time workers. In the tourism hospitality and recreation industries alone there are 50 categories of employment and approximately 200 classifications of occupations.Tourism provides the opportunity for residents to interact with other people and cultures and brings new ideas into the community. It can ecourages the learning of new languages and skills. The facilities and infrastructure developed for tourism can also benefit residents.

Tourism may be a threaten specific natural resources such as beaches and coral reefs or historical sites. It would increase litter, noise, and pollution. Tourism would brings increased ompetition for limited resources such as water and land, resulting in land degradation, loss of wildlife habitats and deterioration of scenery. Tourism seasonality Directly contributes to sewage and solid waste pollution. Emissions generated by forms of transport are one of the main environmental problems of tourism. Tourism development of infrastructure (airports, roads, etc.) can cost the local government a great deal of money. Employment tends to be seasonal. Workers may be laid off in the winter season.

In summary, i would concede tha tourism can bring some benefits ,for example ,in economic. Despite that , the tourism is bad for the enviroment .Over all ,i am convinced that our government should give some policy to control the bad effect of tourism industry.

  1. Sue,

While the essay is fairly clearly structured and your argument is clear, there is unfortunately too much plagiarism, such as:

"In the tourism hospitality and recreation industries alone there are 50 categories of employment and approximately 200 classifications of occupations"

    as seen in this website:

When you copy a sentence exactly from another text, you must reference and use quotation marks. Plagiarism is unacceptable in academic writing.
