Learner Journal Week 2

Hello everyone!

This week's Learner Journal Entry is:

Think back on the skills you worked on this week in class and discuss the following:

  • What are some of the characteristics of a good participant in a discussion/debate?  What can you work on to improve your participation? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • What have you learned this week about your own skills in academic writing from class exercises? What do you need to work on and improve?
  • Which of the skills discussed this week (academic writing, speaking and presentation making, listening and note taking) do you feel you need to work on the most? What can you do to improve your work in these skills?
Remember, this is an opportunity to assess your own skills and what you have learned, and understand the areas where you can improve!

*****   For the weekly presenters only  (Leo and Ray)- please also include one paragraph reflecting on your presentation. Please let me know what you feel went well and what you would like to work on for next time. Is there anything you would change?

Good luck and have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Jennifer

  1. Last week, I learned the most is how to do a presentation. I think that a good preparation, accurate pronunciation and short but powerful sentence structure, the body language and pictures which are able to help people easily understand, are the necessary condition for a good presentation. In the last week, I found that I'm good at listening and comperhension, but other shortcomings such as shorthand, sentence structure, pronunciation, etc. are all I need to improve.
I hope so much that in the next week, I will learn some formal academic sentence, and understand them about what is different from the usual sentence. I also hope to learn more of the standard pronunciation.
