differences between UK and China

The differences between British culture and Chinese culture that you have noticed so far

Different countries have different culture, custom and the way of dealing with things. In my opinion, there are huge differences between British and China. First of all, when Chinese people meet their friend, they always said "where do you go?"or"do you work?"But in UK, people might respect others secrets, when they meet their friend, they often said"hello"or "how are you?"Secondly, in an open modern society, cross-cultural verbal communication seems increasingly important to modern communication has become a feature of the striking. Such as Chinese people like to others as center, and consider other’s feelings. However, in English, people make their own point of view for center, for example, people always said "can I help you? "or "what can I do for you?"Thirdly, in the class, the way which teachers teach their students has very big differences. In UK, teachers always organize many discussion giving their students and pay attention interactive. But in China, teachers only teach some knowledge to their students, and have a little discussion. In this way the potential of students can’t develop better, and maybe hitting students positivity. Finally, I found the most surprising which is food between UK and China. I really do not accept the food of UK, and the tasty is very strange. Although the sweet food is very delicious in UK, for me others are really hard to swallow. Perhaps I had lived many years in China, so I prefer to Chinese food.
In conclusion, for me, UK is a beautiful country and has many friendly people. Although UK and China have many differences in some aspects, I also hope I can accept everything here making me study and live better.

  1. Thank you for sharing your ideas, Maria!

This is an interesting and well-written essay. You have a strong introduction and conclusion to the topic, and I like how you reflect on your own background when discussing these differences. Acknowledging that your preferences are based on your Chinese culture but that you hope to accept local customs shows an open-minded approach!

One big point I must mention is to be careful with paragraphing! Paragraphs are used to organize main ideas and supports and provide a clear/organized structure to your writing! They should be separate from each other and the introduction!

Also, be careful to choose correct vocabulary to clearly express your meaning. Your second point about communication and points of view is not clearly explained. Maybe providing an example of Chinese language would help to show the difference because you only explain British language. Be as clear as possible for the reader to follow you!

    Well done!
