In current society, protecting the environment is playing a increasingly important role in our lives. But in the meanwhile, whether the clotheslines should be banned has provoked a debate. Some people beleive that drying their laundry on a clothesline can save energy, whilie others argue that will be an eyesore, the clotheslines should be banned.

Proponents argue that the clothselines should not be prohibited by their neighbors or local community agreements . Firstly, drying clothes outdoors can save energy, like electricity . State lawmakers in Colorado, Hawaii, Maine and Vermont have overridden these local rules with legislation protecting the right to hang laundry outdoors, citing environmental concerns since clothes dryers use at least 6 percent of all household electricity consumption. Secondly, it can save some cost .Thirdly, some people think that sheets dangling in the wind are beautiful . Fourthly, drying the laundry outdoor is more healthy, because the sunshine can kill the bacilli.

Others hold the opposite point, they maintain that the clothselines shoud be banned. The reasons for that is drying laundry outdoor has made a bad effect in the society. Many people viewed it as an eyesore, not unlike storing junk cars in driveways, and a marker of poverty that lowers property values. They say the laws lifting bans erode local property rights and undermine the autonomy of private communities.

In summary, i concede that drying laundry outdoors is benefit for some aspects, because my family also use the clotheslines. I think that the clotheslines shoud not be banned . But for them, they must balance which is more useful and acceptful.
